About Sun Signs

On the day you were born the sun was passing through one of twelve constellations. The name of that constellation then became your ‘sun sign’. You became a Leo, a Gemini or one of the other twelve signs. The horoscope columns you read view the moon and planets from the perspective of each of these twelve constellations. Aries

You are a warrior. You need to pit your will, courage, determination against an adversary. This can come in many forms, such as a project, another person or a computer program. Essentially you work alone although you do love to bring back the spoils of victory to your loved ones. You have a large and passionate heart which can only sustain its outpouring of considerable energy for a short time. Consequently you need ever-new challenges to engage and besot you, in all aspects of your life. When you have this your heart is full.

Taurus

You are the salt of the earth and as you busy yourself with the debits and credits of salt you must also be surrounded by beauty. Your heart needs to be creatively engaged in the building and maintenance of all that is beautiful, refined and real. Once you do set your sights on something that is both captivating and functional you are there for the long haul, and once you’ve made a decision there’s no going back. Gemini

You are the magician. You need to be involved with the sparkling world of ideas, news and connections. The explosion of energy that comes when two good ideas or people connect sets your being alight, especially when you have been the instrument of their meeting. You are at your most purposeful when disseminating information. Your energy is such that you can make a quick chat light up the phone lines, just as easily as you can bring sparkle to a lengthy debate.

Cancer

You understand the invisible bonds that hold people together. You need to create a sense of family in whatever situation you find yourself: be it work, home, or community. Recognizing and nurturing this sense of family brings purpose to your life. You are the one who remembers the history of things, and it is often you who are the holder of the stories. Although your moods may be as changeable as the faces of the moon, you need constancy and you find most fulfillment when your efforts create a sense of security for you and those around you.

Leo

It is you who sit on the Zodiacal throne. You need to express your creativity and to give rousing voice to the warmth that lies in your heart. You feel responsible for the happiness and upliftment of those around you, soaking up any admiration or good feeling that might come as a result. Although your lion-ish roar may be loud your heart is simple, and like a child’s it is anchored in the moment. Virgo

You are the skilled artisan. Your heart needs to be useful, to offer practical service to those in your immediate surrounds. Very little escapes your sharp eye, and so in the quest to be useful there are few skills you can’t acquire. Work that requires attention to detail is your forte, and your affinity with the realms of health means your skill is often deeply appreciated, although it is not the appreciation but the service which brings you fulfillment.

Libra

Relationship is all to you. You need to be in a relationship with the world around you. This includes other people of course but also objects, ideas, projects. You search for yourself in the other, be it a person or an object. Then you look for the point of balance between yourself and the other. Because of this constant study of balance you have a natural aesthetic sense, and you find purpose when you can extend this idea of beauty and harmony out into the world.

Scorpio

You are the holder of power. Your heart needs power and given this you can bring transformation to otherwise unenlightened situations. You need to be given room to express and act on what you perceive. Without this your deep waters become stagnant and we all lose your unique ability to transform and uplift. You naturally see into the hearts of others, and you feel the actions of others deeply. When you respond in kind you can shock and injure at times, but you can also illuminate and realign.

Sagittarius

You are the adventurer of the zodiac. Your heart needs to be absorbed in pursuits that are meaningful and thus it continually reaches toward noble goals. You constantly yearn to know and experience more. While it is natural for you to teach and lead others, your true purpose at times seems held in a worthy and distant vision, with Beauty, Truth and ‘the right thing’ your guiding principles. But then you leap at an invitation to adventure, be it a party or an expedition and you find fulfillment in igniting the spirits of those around you.

Capricorn

You are the upholder of order. You need to know the rules of the game, and once you do you surpass all in climbing to the top. You know the value of work and have little patience with those who squander their time and resources. Your heart needs the security of a tangible goal to work towards, whether it is in work, relationship, health or finances. Once the goal is clear you are happy to work toward it, step by step. Aquarius

It is freedom you seek not just to ‘do your own thing’ but to act in the best way for all concerned. Yours is a selfless heart which needs to serve the group rather than just your own success. The scientist of the zodiac, you have a mind that is far-ranging and unique and you offer your best service when you can step back from detail and look at the big picture. You need to work with intelligent, innovative rules, all the better if you have created them, but you struggle to live by a conventional rule book.

Pisces

You are the mystic. Music, beauty, compassion are your languages and your heart needs to translate your experience into these. Your soul takes you deeply into daily events and encounters and you often come across insights which refuse to be translated into words. You need to find ways to communicate this wisdom or it becomes corrosive, eroding away your sense of purpose. Your fluid nature flows through boundaries and has the ability to convey your message, whatever it may be, direct to the soul of those who hear.
